Welcome to the 1st Burnmoor monthly blog where we will keep you up to date with group news and upcoming events.

Onsite ADVENTUROUS activities

All the hard work prior, during and post-Covid has paid off with our onsite adventurous activities, our sections for the first time have been enjoying Archery, Tree Climbing and Crate Stacking onsite.

Thank you to everyone who supported fundraising, setting up and the tremendous amount of paperwork involved.

Competiton time

Sydney Street Allotments Association has reached out to us with a competition for our young people:

  • The Task: Design a birthday card with an allotment/vegetable theme.
  • The deadline: Bring your entries in by the 29th of June and we'll pass them on to be judged.
  • The Prize: A fantastic art set has been donated as a prize.

Thank you to Sydney Street Allotments Association who we hope to work with more in the future.

Whit Camp

We had a fantastic camp with our Scouts and Cubs over the Jubilee weekend.

We are really impressed with all of our young people, despite for most, it being their first-night camping (or away from home) and it being an unusually cold night, everyone made it through and got on with every challenge they encountered including archery, playing in the river, and most importantly saving the crown jewels. The fantastic weather enabled us to enjoy a fun-packed weekend and some incredible campfires.

Well Done and thank you to everyone involved!

#Goodforyou

We've identified we need several new volunteers to help with section meetings, this may be helping run activities, preparing equipment or just making the juice.

If you think you can help please see 1stburnmoor.co.uk/join for more information.

DATES FOR THE DIARY

Currently, we have the following camps and days out for 2022 which are all bookable via Parent Portal:

  • 02-03rd of July 2022 - Cubboree at Moor House
  • 20-27th of August 2022 - Summer Camp for Scouts

As well as these events there'll also be sleepovers for all sections and other fantastic county events to look forward to.

New Kitchen

You might have seen some building works have been happening within the hall in recent weeks, we are pleased to be getting a brand new commercial kitchen that will be a huge asset to the group for years to come.

This has been grant-funded due to our volunteers' fantastic (and speedy) efforts. Thank you to everyone involved!

Access for all project

Some more exciting news, we will soon begin is the development of the rear of the hall which will create extra space and better access ensuring the Scout hall is accessible to all.

This project has been a massive undertaking by those involved including raising the funds to make it happen, the efforts are a credit to the group!
