The 1st Burnmoor Scout Active Support Unit (SASU) is a group of adults who have one thing in common – a wish to support Scouting. Our active support unit welcomes men and women of all ages, interests and backgrounds. There is no need to have been involved in Scouting or Guiding before, all that is required is a willingness to give some of your time to Scouting. In return you will make friends and be able to join with others doing whatever you decide.

Our support encompasses the talents of all ages and abilities, whether it is physical, mental, geared to a particular technical skill or general support. Everyone has something to offer as far as supporting Scouting is concerned whatever our age or ability. The key to our success is our flexibility.

The SASU provision is broken down into the following area:

  • Camp Support
    • SASU will assist the group with support at camp.
  • Group Fundraising
    • SASU will fundraise for the group, to support the running of the group, to support the program of activities and for equipment purchase/maintenance.
  • Grounds and Maintenance
    • SASU will support the maintenance and development of the grounds and hall.
  • Meeting night and event support
    • SASU will assist leaders when required to run meeting nights and events when either extra support is required, or there is a shortage of leaders and section assistants.
  • Supporting the management team
    • SASU will provide support in respect of experience, advice and guidance to the leadership team and committee. Past Group Leaders and members are an essential source to maintain the group ethos and to support and encourage the historic culture of the group

Scout Active Support Unit is a way for adults to volunteer some time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them.

  • Members will agree to assist with one or more of the SASU needs.
  • Members must complete a DBS check.
