Get ready! We’re off to Durham 2020.
In the summer of 2020, Durham is hosting its first international Scout jamboree. Over 2000 Scouts and Guides from around the world are expected to travel to Durham for a summer to remember and we’re going too!
When? 1-8 August 2020
Where? A stunning 60 acre site in Wolsingham, Durham
What? An 8 day, 7 night jamboree experiencethat will have a real buzz, a great range of activities and cultures from around the world:
- Join one of our five sub-camp communities
- Over 200 exciting and adventurous activities to try
- Two off-site days in Durham and at Derwent Water
- Experience the spectacle of the opening and closing ceremonies
- An evening programme of parties and entertainment
- A full village of facilities from cafes to shops
- An exclusive and secret off-site day for Explorers

90 Challenge Award

Our 90 challenge award as apart of the groups 90th anniversary celebrations is ready for our young people and volunteers to get stuck into, lists will be handed out at our next meeting night, adults see below how to get involved! 
Adult volunteers can get the badge too by getting 90 points, keep track of your own points and let a leader know when you’ve achieved 90.
Points are earned by the following:
Help at meeting night = 5 points
Help at grounds day = 10 points
Help at camp = 10 points per day
Fund raise £100 for the group = 10 points
Help with group function = 10 points
Attend a group function = 5 points
Become section assistant = 30 points
Become a section leader or committee member = 90 points (Because becoming a leader is awesome and you’re supporting young people through lots of challenges throughout the year)
Community Gardening Day a Great Success

It was a record turn out at our gardening day yesterday, fueled by bacon sandwiches, chocolate cake and scones, the volunteers made a big impression on the grounds. We managed to finish the fencing around the bouldering wall, clean the camp fire area, fill a skip with rubbish, plant lots of beautiful flowers, put down the wood chip and concrete in posts for the new fencing beside the poly tunnel. Brilliant effort everyone!

You can now join the waiting list for 1st Burnmoor on our website, just click the link at the bottom of every page.
Leaders will be notified, and we will be in contact when there’s room for your child in which ever section is age appropriate. You can join the waiting list as early as you like so when your child turns 5&3/4 we can get them straight into Beavers.
