Return to Face to face scouting

All sections have now once again returned to Face to Face Scouting.

Meetings information will continue to be sent via Parent Portal.

scouting through lockdown 2

A huge well done to all our volunteers and young people who continued Scouting throughout Lockdown 2, thank you to all the volunteers who put together and ran a fantastic program.

Above and beyond

2020 has been a very strange year for us all but we can all agree that the leaders and volunteers at 1st Burnmoor have gone above and beyond to continue Scouting throughout the year with programs from home, camps, wide games and returning to face to face Scouting safely. All providing opportunities for our young people to continue developing skills for life and becoming upstanding members of our community.

Thank You!

Grounds improvements

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Local Giving match funding appeal, in total we raised a staggering £10,000 in 1 week.

Work is scheduled over the Christmas break to improve parking and pathways to improve the accessibility to aid Face to Face Scouting during the winter months.

waiting list

We are continuing to work hard to give the young people on our waiting list a place in the group, we are delighted to welcoming 7 new members into our Beaver section in January with many members moving up into Cubs and Scouts.

With the Covid restrictions our Beaver section is currently running at a lower capacity but we will offer places as soon as they become available on a fist come basis.

Click the button at the bottom of our website to join the waiting list.

we need your support

We're in need of adults to join our team of volunteers, as we continue to grow we need volunteers to support the section meetings, the committee and the day to day running of the hall and grounds.

Over the coming months we will be sharing details of areas we need support and how you can get involved. One area we do need support is running the section meetings, in the new year why not try the 4 Week Challenge? Volunteer for just four weeks and be amazed at the difference you’ll make:

  • Week 1 See what we get up to
  • Week 2 Start to help out
  • Week 3 Get a little more involved
  • Week 4 You’ll know if Scouting is for you.

Food bank

We're delighted that the Kind Community Support Group have moved into 1st Burnmoor, they offer a food bank service every Monday and Friday 10:00-12:00 from the Scout Hall.

Visit their Facebook page.

Looking ahead as the vaccine begins to role out were hoping 2021 we will be able to resume nights away, this will all be subject to the readiness level at the time but all being well we have the following camps penciled in:

  • 28-30th of May 2021 - Whit Camp for Cubs & Scouts
  • 21-28th of August 2021 - Summer Camp for Scouts
  • Summer 2022 - Durham 2020 2022 Jamboree for Beaver, Cubs and Scouts

As well as these events there'll also be sleepovers for all sections and other fantastic county events to look forward to.
