Welcome to the 1st Burnmoor monthly blog where we will keep you up to date with group news and upcoming events.

Return to ZOOM scouting

Earlier this month all sections returned to Face to Face Scouting and were delighted with how it went.

As England is back into lockdown The Scouts and the NYA have confirmed the readiness level has changed to Red so all meetings will continue but take place on Zoom. Don’t miss out as we’ll be completing the Great Indoors badge over the remainder of 2020.

As per the F2F meetings all the information will be sent via Parent Portal.

We will follow guidance from HQ from the 2nd of December for getting back to F2F Scouting, the remaining two meetings after this have been planned so they can be adapted for F2F or Zoom

Grounds improvements

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Local Giving match funding appeal, in total we raised a staggering £10,000 in 1 week.

This money will be put straight to use to improve the accessibility and facilities within our grounds to aid Face to Face Scouting during the winter months.

Pap-a-pumpkin

We hop you enjoyed Durham Scouts Pap-a-Pumpkin this Halloween, well done to all those who joined in, there were some fantastic pumpkins.

remembrance Sunday

We will not be able to hold our Remembrance parade this year, but 1st Burnmoor will remember them.

Join Scouts from across the country to pay their respects by having a two minute silence from your own door steps Sunday 8th Nov at 11am.

Food bank

We're delighted that the Kind Community Support Group have moved into 1st Burnmoor, they offer a food bank service every Monday and Friday 10:00-12:00 from the Scout Hall.

race around the world

COVID-19 is the biggest crisis we’ve faced in a generation. Now, over 500 Scout groups – many of them based in communities that were already made vulnerable before the virus hit – are struggling to make ends meet. If they close their doors, thousands of young people will miss out on all the life-changing skills and experiences being a Scout can bring, precisely when they need us most.

We’re asking everyone – including young people and their families, volunteers, and former Scouts – to sign up and join one of four teams as we #RaceRoundTheWorld.

See the Race Around the World website for full information.
